Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished. "To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products," Ubisoft said in its statement. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. "We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. When this time comes, the game's servers will be taken offline, making the title unplayable. In a message posted on Ubisoft's website today, it was announced that support for Hyper Scape will officially come to a close later this spring. However, the game notably was never able to accumulate a large enough player base, which has clearly led Ubisoft to now decide to end support for it altogether. First released in 2020, Hyper Scape was meant to be Ubisoft's response to games like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Apex Legends. You can read our review of the game through here.Ubisoft announced today that it will officially be shutting down Hyper Scape, which is the publisher's free-to-play battle royale title, later this year. Hyper Scape is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Hyper Scape was a free-to-play first-person shooter battle royale game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Here’s hoping this actually leads to some meaningful improvements in the not-too-distant future. Regardless of how invested (or not) you may be in Hyper Scape and how it does, it’s good to see a developer recognizing their game’s flaws so quickly and then actually being able to work on them.

Currently, it is too hard to aim, track and consistently damage players and eliminate them, especially on consoles. This results in a difficult experience for new players.

COMBAT COMFORT We always intended for Hyper Scape to have a high skill ceiling, but it is clear from our data that the floor is also too high.

HYPER SCAPE FULL
In a new update, Ubisoft said with Hyper Scape, they “were not able to achieve the high expectations we set for ourselves with our full release.” Going forward, they want to turn the shooter into a game “everyone can play and enjoy”, and as such, have identified five key improvements that they want to make, from making the game more accessible to adding more game modes to enabling cross-play and more. No matter what mtric you go by – whether that’s audience reception, critical reception, Twitch numbers, or anything else – the game has faded away into the background rather quickly- and its developers agree that things could have gone much better. Its launch, however, didn’t exactly go number. Recently, Ubisoft threw their own sci-fi-styled hat into the ring with Hyper Scape, which went into beta in July, and then launched in full just a month later. The battle royale genre has moved from strength to strength these past few years, and has seen all the major publishers in the industry trying to claim a slice of the pie with their own take on the popular style of game.
